Description and Uses

Fagus grandifolia (American beech) is a temperate tree from Eastern North America. It is mainly grown for its timber crops (short shelflife), The crop is harvested by ground gathering. The first yield will be 3 but in its top season there will be a yield of 4. There is oil extracted by expeller pressing from the tree`s seed/nut yielding 18 - 22% oil. The tree`s wood is called American beech and has a density of 700 - 720 kg/m³. Regarding firewood production the tree`s growing speed is medium, its energetic value is 4100 ckal/kg and the wood`s drying speed is slow; for firewood production it is not ideal.


Environmental limitations

The tree is 30 meters tall. It is medium growing and tolerates not less light than shade tolerant.
